I’m not big into politics, let me start by saying that. But there are some things I’m pretty set on regarding the politik of the day. The Iraq war is one of them. I’ve mentioned to some of you in person here and there what my views are, and you can agree or disagree with my conclusion, but you have to admit I’ve got a bit of logic in there somewhere.
For me the bottom line is this… I agreed with the info we had at the time that we should go into Iraq. I also believe with the info we have now we should get the heck out. Not a “drop everything and run” deal, but just get out. I leave the details about timelines to others who know more about the logistics of moving several hundred thousand troops and their equipment. But get out we should. The place was a mess before we got there and no matter how long we stay, it’ll be a mess when we leave. So cut out the middle part where we spend decades over there getting our soldiers killed or injured.
Now I just saw this clip online at youtube, and David Letterman pretty much sums up my opinion way better than I ever could. O’Reilly makes some good counterpoints too and on the whole an interesting and informative exchange between the two. Watch the clip below…
