Steven Goff of the Washington Post is reporting today that DC United is close to acquiring Robert Ssejjemba (yes, thats two “ss” and two “jj”) from the Richmond Kickers. Ssejjemba played for the DC reserves last weekend as a trialist and scored three goals. Apparently, that was enough to impress DC coaches.
This is really welcome news. We need a serious injection of… something… anything at the forward position. We’ve been a dud for a couple of months now and this might be just the thing we’re looking for. He’s a fast guy and scored a bunch of goals for Richmond (altho admittedly 2nd division). I would have liked if we could have found a nice big target guy, but as crappy as our crossing is, maybe a speed guy is the better option.
At this point, any change is good.
