Seems like they’ve chosen Winona Ryder to play Spock’s mom in the upcoming JJ Abrams version of Start Trek. I’m not sure how they’re going to play that as Zachary Quinto (who plays the young Spock) is a little too old to be Winona’s kid.
Also, IESB.net is reporting that Jennifer Morrison and Chris Hemsworth have been cast as Dr. Carol Marcus and George Samuel Kirk Sr. respoectively. Dr. Carol Marcus you may remember from Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan as the mother (Baby’s Momma) of Kirk’s son who promptly kicked the bucket in Star Trek III (and he wasn’t even wearing a red shirt!). George Samuel Kirk Sr. is Kirk’s dad. IESB.net also has some spy shots taken from the site of filming.
And here’s the latest trailer for Beowulf, opening this weekend. The CG on this film is *impressive* to say the least. It reminds me a little bit of that Final Fantasy movie years ago and what a leap forward it was at the time. This is a similar jump in realistic CG. Not to mention its based on a great story and has some pretty decent acting talent in it.
